Electrical submittals: what Division 26 asks you to submit.
An electrical package is mostly schedule-driven, which makes it look simpler than it is. The schedules hand you an exact catalog string to match character by character, and they leave out a good deal of what still has to be submitted.
Where the scope actually lives
On an electrical set the product list is assembled from four places at once, and only the first is obvious.
- The luminaire, panel and equipment schedules. These carry an exact catalog number, and matching it is a character-by-character job. One suffix off is a different finish, a different voltage or a different mounting.
- The legend. Device types live here. A receptacle symbol repeated four hundred times across the plans is one line in the legend and zero lines in any schedule.
- Keyed notes and detail sheets. Items that appear once, on one sheet, and nowhere else in the set.
- Part 2 of each spec section. Conduit, wire, boxes, firestopping and identification are rarely scheduled at all. They are specified, and they are still submittals. Where the requirement is written.
Rough-in is where packages quietly go incomplete. A schedule names the device. It does not name the box, the plate, the conduit or the connector that has to arrive with it.
Division 26 by section
The sections below carry most of the submittal weight on commercial electrical work, with the product types that fall under each and manufacturers commonly carried on packages that were approved.

Manufacturers listed are a sourcing prior, not a recommendation and not an authority. The project's own accepted-manufacturers clause in Part 2 and the catalog string on the drawing schedule govern, in that order, every time.
What sends an electrical package back
The catalog string does not match
The schedule lists a full catalog number. The cut sheet shows the product family. A single suffix difference is a real product difference, and it becomes a wrong fixture installed and pulled out in month six, on your money.
Nothing is marked on a multi-configuration sheet
A luminaire datasheet can cover forty configurations. If nothing is circled the reviewer cannot tell which model, driver, lumen package or finish you are proposing, so there is nothing for them to approve.
The schedule and the spec disagree, and the package picks a side
The schedule says 3500K, Part 2 says 4000K. Choosing one silently makes the conflict yours. Flagged before you submit, it stays the architect's to resolve.
A listing or standard goes unchecked
UL listing, DLC qualification, NEMA rating, seal class. One line in Part 2 that the datasheet does not answer reads to the engineer as though nothing in the package was checked.
Rough-in is missing
Completeness gets checked before quality. A package covering the scheduled devices but not the boxes, plates and connectors they need is incomplete, and incomplete comes back whole.
